It's pretty entrenched in the Drupal way of doing things, so if something's confusing as you get started be sure to stop by the forums. There's usually someone helpful around. : ) fwiw, we use Flatforum in our forums, which I believe has been replaced by the Advanced Forum module... we're using a customized Privatemsg module, Comment Page, User Badges, and Userpoints to provide additional functionality and have integrated those into our forum comment template.
